Quetta Paramedical Staff Oppose Privatization of Hospitals, Demand Improved Facilities

Quetta:The Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association Quetta District, led by President Ghulam Sarwar, Chairman Abdul Hanan Durrani, Senior Vice President Yaqoob Sasoli, Amir Hamza Lahri, Hidayat Jamali, Hanif Kakar, Haji Shah Amjad Khan, Qasim Kakar, Abdul Sattar Qambarani, Shah Nazar, and others, has issued a joint statement condemning the move to operate hospitals under Public-Private Partnership (PPP). They argue that this privatization is equivalent to exploiting the public and draining their resources.

The association highlights that tests which previously cost 50 rupees will now cost thousands under privatization. They express concerns that not only will this increase the cost of healthcare, but it will also worsen the quality of services. They urge the government to focus on providing hospitals with modern technology, adequate medications, and other essential facilities instead of pursuing privatization.

The association warns that if health sector organizations do not unite and address the issue of privatization and other pressing concerns together, they risk being fragmented and ineffective. They call for a unified effort to tackle these issues on a common platform, emphasizing the need for collective action to protect public health interests.
