Quetta: BSO Condemns State Repression and Decline in Education in Balochistan

The **Baloch Students Organization (BSO)**, in a statement released by its central spokesperson, expressed grave concerns about the long-standing state repression and exploitation in **Balochistan**. The spokesperson highlighted that the region has been suffering from state violence for decades, with every aspect of life being severely impacted by oppression. This includes a **deteriorating education system**, where **militarization** in educational institutions, harassment, broken infrastructure, unjustified university closures, and restrictions on political activities are widespread. These policies are seen as colonial strategies aimed at stifling the **creative potential** of students and **suppressing political engagement**.
The spokesperson demanded that academic activities in **Balochistan’s educational institutions** be immediately restored and restructured in line with modern educational practices. The **BSO** specifically condemned the decision to switch to **online classes** in the **University of Balochistan** and other institutions. The organization views this shift as part of a deliberate attempt to keep students isolated, away from **collective gatherings**, **debates**, and political participation, ultimately pushing them toward further subjugation.
The **BSO** also condemned the actions at **Lasbela University**, where students were **stigmatized** for organizing a **book stall** as part of a conscious learning activity, and at **University of Turbat**, where academic activities were being disrupted under various pretexts, leading to **mental distress** for students. According to the organization, these actions reflect a larger **conspiracy** to undermine and destroy the role of **educational institutions** in **Balochistan** as places of **conscious learning** and critical thinking.
The spokesperson further stated that **Baloch educational institutions** have long been seen as centers of knowledge and enlightenment, where true education and conscious learning take place. In line with their enduring ideals, the **BSO** reaffirmed its commitment to defending these institutions and vowed to continue the struggle against policies that undermine the rights of students and promote an **anti-education agenda** in the region.
