Documents reveal that the Punjab government has decided to purchase luxury vehicles for parliamentary secretaries, despite the fact that 20 Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary secretaries already possess luxury cars. The approval has been granted for an additional 20 vehicles.
The new luxury cars, costing a staggering 612.4 million PKR, will be allocated to the nominated parliamentary secretaries and officials. Specifically, between 22 million to 29 million PKR will be spent on luxury vehicles for the parliamentary secretaries, while 99.6 million PKR will be allocated for 15 vehicles for the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD).
The request for the procurement of 76 luxury vehicles was made by Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, Ahmad Raza Sarwar. Additionally, two luxury vehicles will be purchased from Indus Motors for S&GAD’s protocol at a cost of 36.1 million PKR.
Furthermore, 30 luxury cars will be acquired for provincial ministers’ protocol at a total cost of 209 million PKR. An additional 17.495 million PKR will be spent on taxes related to these vehicles, while 30 million PKR will be allocated for the decoration of the cars.
Interestingly, only nine vehicles were initially deemed necessary for the parliamentary secretaries, yet the government approved the purchase of an extra 20 cars.
