Lahore: The Punjab government has announced the distribution of free solar panels across the province on the occasion of Independence Day. According to Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, starting from August 14th, households consuming up to 200 units of electricity will be eligible to receive free solar panels. Households consuming more than 200 and up to 500 units will receive solar panels at a subsidized rate of only 10%, with the Punjab government covering 90% of the cost, payable over five years without interest.
The distribution of solar panels will be facilitated through banks, with all details of the scheme finalized by the provincial government. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that this initiative will reduce electricity bills by 40% for consumers and aims to provide relief to the public. Despite challenging circumstances, she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to standing by the people and continuing to support them.
