Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Approves Solar Panels Project
Islamabad:Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given formal approval to a fundamental initiative aimed at providing solar panels to consumers using up to 500 units of electricity. The approval for the “Bright Homes” program was granted during a cabinet meeting held yesterday, where the project for supplying solar panels received formal sanction.
The Punjab government will provide solar systems to millions of consumers using electricity from 50 to 500 units. The Punjab government will cover 90% of the cost of solar panels, while consumers will contribute the remaining 10%.
In view of rising electricity costs and energy crises, the Punjab government has decided to launch the “Bright Homes” program, following a transparent process. In the initial phase, the poorest households will be provided with solar systems.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz remarked that they will not leave the people alone in difficult times and are striving to save the public from the effects of past devastations. She added that in five years, people will no longer face current issues.
