Public Holiday Announced on December 5, 2024, Due to By-Election in Sheikhupura
Sheikhupura: A public holiday has been announced on December 5, 2024, in Sheikhupura district of Punjab due to the upcoming by-election.
According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office, a by-election will be held on December 5 in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-139 (Ferozewala). As a result, the district will observe a public holiday on the day of the election.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed Deputy Commissioner Shahid Imran Marth as the District Returning Officer for the by-election.
The PP-139 seat became vacant following the death of Rana Afzal Hussain. Prior to his passing, Rana Afzal had won the seat after Rana Tanveer Hussain vacated it during a previous by-election.
