PTI’s Sher Afzal Marwat Criticizes Khawaja Asif’s Language, Calls for Committee on Talks with Establishment
Islamabad: PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has expressed respect for Defense Minister Khawaja Asif but criticized his fiery rhetoric. Speaking in the National Assembly, Marwat pointed out that while Khawaja Asif suggested that PTI should take the first step for negotiations, he emphasized that the government must first step out of its “ego shell.”
Marwat highlighted a discrepancy in the political discourse, stating that while media outlets talk about negotiations, leaders often claim that talks are not taking place, misleading the nation. He remarked that politicians haven’t even agreed on terms of reference (TORs) for talks.
The PTI MNA further suggested that a committee could be formed to finalize the TORs and address the issues, after which negotiations with the establishment could be possible. “Why can’t a committee be formed to resolve these issues and set TORs?” he asked.
Marwat also questioned if Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah or Khawaja Asif could provide the government’s official stance on negotiations. He expressed frustration, saying that the government’s narrative is inconsistent and misleading, especially after claims of misinformation by the Information Minister.
The PTI MNA also lamented the divisive atmosphere in the country, where politicians seldom speak positively about each other. He stated that politicians should focus on solving public issues, as they were elected to serve the people, but he personally couldn’t visit his constituency due to Taliban occupation in certain areas.
Marwat’s comments reflect growing tensions over the stalled political dialogue and the need for clarity on negotiations between the government, opposition, and the establishment.
