PTI’s Sheer Afzal Marwat Granted Interim Bail in 3 Cases Related to D-Chowk Protest
Islamabad: The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court has granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly Sheer Afzal Marwat in three cases registered in connection with the D-Chowk protest, with bail bonds of Rs. 5,000 each.
According to Dawn News, the hearing was conducted by Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, who reviewed Marwat’s bail plea. Sheer Afzal Marwat informed the court that Judge Abulhasnat Mohammad Zulqarnain had refused to hear his case due to comments made by him in Parliament. Marwat was quoted saying, “When the justice system is destroyed, everything else falls apart.”
In response, the court advised Marwat to avoid such statements in the future. The judge also emphasized the importance of maintaining respect for the judicial process.
The court granted Marwat interim bail in the three cases and adjourned the hearing until December 16. The cases were registered against Marwat at the Margalla, Ramna, and Secretariat police stations.
In a separate development, Sheer Afzal Marwat has also secured interim bail in two additional cases registered against him at the Khanna police station. The Islamabad local court has granted him bail until December 16, with a directive to present the case records during the next hearing.
The bail petitions were heard by Additional Session Judge Raja Asif Mehmood Khan, who instructed the authorities to present the case records in the next hearing.
