Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has reserved its decision on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s application seeking permission for a protest in the federal capital. During the hearing, the court instructed the stakeholders, including the Islamabad administration and PTI, to consult within two hours and reconvene at 12:30 PM. The application was filed by PTI’s Aamir Mughal for permission to protest in Islamabad on July 26.
The State Council informed the court that the Islamabad administration had rejected all requests for protests within the city for public safety reasons. However, PTI advocates argued that their constitutional right to peaceful protest outside the National Press Club should be respected, citing a High Court decision.
Justice Athman Rafiq Emteyaz remarked during the proceedings, “If the PTI is granted permission today, it could lead to disorder.” The court has adjourned the hearing and will reconvene later to continue the discussion.
