PTI’s 550 Million Rupees Financial Irregularities Scandal Unveiled, PAC-II Launches Investigation

A financial irregularities scandal amounting to 550 million rupees has come to light involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), prompting Public Accounts Committee II (PAC-II) to initiate an investigation.
The scandal includes the purchase of goods worth 286 million rupees without proper tenders, and a further 263 million rupees were spent while ignoring all basic procurement laws.
The financial mismanagement occurred during the tenure of former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. PAC-II has taken strong action in response to this significant financial discrepancy.
The committee has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the involvement of junior officers in the investigation and has directed that senior officers handle the inquiry. PAC-II also rejected the stance of the Services and General Administration Department, dismissing their request to handle the audit issues.
Furthermore, the committee has decided to keep all audit matters pending until the completion of the investigation.
