PTI Submits List of Independent Members to Election Commission Following Supreme Court’s Decision
Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a list of 38 independent members of the National Assembly to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in light of the Supreme Court’s decision. According to sources, PTI representatives have compiled the list of independent National Assembly members and included additional documents along with their list.
Sources further indicate that PTI has not yet submitted the oaths of allegiance for three independent members, namely Sahibzada Mehboob Sultan, Mobeen Aarif, and Riaz Fatiana, who are currently residing abroad. These three members will submit their party affiliation forms to the Election Commission today.
It is to be noted that a few days ago, the Supreme Court, in response to a petition by the Sunni Ittehad Council regarding specific seats, declared the decisions of the Election Commission and Peshawar High Court null and void, declaring PTI an unconstitutional party. The Supreme Court had instructed the Election Commission to reverse the allocation of specific seats to PTI in the National Assembly, while directing PTI to submit the oath of allegiance of its members along with their lists to the Election Commission.
