Islamabad:Despite notifications from the Election Commission, nominees of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) cannot take oath in the assemblies. Today, a legal draft will be presented in the National Assembly, which analysts are calling the first constitutional bombshell. Special security arrangements have been made at Parliament House, with government members of the assembly directed to attend the session and Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s role gaining importance.
In the National Assembly session today (Tuesday), stern action will be taken against inappropriate statements and fatwas related to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, with the possibility of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif making a policy statement on this issue.
Despite initial private initiatives by the government on the first day, it will present official drafts for legislation, under which PTI may not be able to formalize its members in the National Assembly and subsequently provincial assemblies, which they had hoped to achieve by swearing in based on a controversial Supreme Court decision.
Approved legislation is being considered the first legal bombshell to be introduced at this session, following which further legal and constitutional bombs will be launched.
Reliable parliamentary sources have told ‘War’ that a special central reporting cell has been set up for this purpose and special security arrangements have been made inside the parliament and in other parts of Parliament House. In this regard, instructions have been issued to Sergeant-at-Arms Captain Ashfaq Ashraf.
Leaders of the ruling coalition parties have instructed their members to ensure their participation in the session starting today, which will continue for two weeks. The National Assembly session will begin at five o’clock this evening, before which government and opposition members will finalize the practical wisdom about the parliament’s work.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has reached Islamabad. He has demanded a session of the House Business Committee before the session in which all parliamentary groups’ heads will participate, and a decision will be made on the rules of procedure regarding the parliament’s work.
