PTI Leaders Express Confidence in Continuing Talks Regardless of Court Verdict

Peshawar/Lahore:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary Information, Sheikh Waqas Akram, has emphasized that the party will continue negotiations with the government even if party founder Imran Khan is sentenced on January 6. Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Sheikh Waqas Akram clarified that PTI is not seeking any leniency nor is it linking the ongoing negotiations to judicial decisions.

Responding to a question about the potential impact of a court verdict on the dialogue process, he stated, “Even if Imran Khan is sentenced on January 6, negotiations will continue. The continuation or halt of talks will depend on the seriousness of the government’s negotiation committee and the progress made in the discussions.”

Sheikh Waqas Akram also clarified that PTI’s civil disobedience movement is not against Pakistan as a nation, but specifically against the government formed through “Form 47,” which he referred to as illegitimate.

Meanwhile, during his appearance at a Lahore court, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi stressed the importance of meaningful negotiations, stating, “Negotiations should move towards a positive outcome, or else the government will falter. The need for talks is more critical for Pakistan than it is for PTI.”

He further urged those who claim to support democracy to engage seriously in the negotiation process, reiterating that the future of Pakistan depends on the government’s willingness to engage in constructive dialogue.
