PTI Leaders Denied Permission to Meet Imran Khan in Adiala Jail
Rawalpindi: PTI leaders’ requests to meet Imran Khan in Adiala Jail have been denied. PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja had contacted jail authorities seeking permission to meet the party founder, but his request was turned down.
Advocate Faisal Chaudhry also made a formal request to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, seeking an urgent meeting with Imran Khan. Chaudhry expressed concerns over the former Prime Minister’s treatment, stating that Khan had informed him on a previous occasion about facing inhumane treatment. He emphasized that Khan had previously been kept in solitary confinement in violation of both national and international laws, raising serious concerns for his well-being.
However, according to jail sources, authorities informed the visitors that Imran Khan is not under the custody of Adiala Jail but is instead being held by Rawalpindi police. Those wishing to meet him were advised to contact the Rawalpindi police for further arrangements.
Jail officials clarified that Imran Khan is currently in physical remand under Rawalpindi police’s custody and his cell has been designated as part of the New Town police station. The jail administration stated that the authority to allow or deny meetings rests with the police, not the jail authorities.
