PTI Leader Sanam Javed Handed Over to Balochistan Police After Rearrest in Islamabad
Islamabad: PTI leader Sanam Javed has been handed over to Balochistan Police, who will obtain her remand from the district court in Islamabad today. According to media reports, following the approval of her remand, Sanam Javed will be transferred to Balochistan.
It was noted that Sanam Javed was re-arrested by Islamabad Police shortly after her release from the Islamabad District and Sessions Court yesterday. Islamabad Police sought assistance from Balochistan Police for her arrest.
Just yesterday, the court had approved the discharge plea of Sanam Javed’s lawyers, and she had returned home after her release. However, she was re-arrested shortly afterwards by Rawalpindi Police.
Sanam Javed faces charges under FIR registered by the FIA for allegedly running a social media website against security agencies. The FIA Cyber Crime Islamabad had filed a case against her on July 10. It is noteworthy that she was previously arrested from Gujranwala Central Jail last Saturday on the Lahore High Court’s order for her release.
Sanam Javed was initially arrested on May 10, 2023, following Imran Khan’s arrest, which sparked nationwide protests by PTI workers. After serving 14 months and 4 days in custody, she was released yesterday but re-arrested shortly thereafter by Islamabad Police.
