PTI Leader Mishaal Yousafzai Faces Legal Consequences for Submitting Power of Attorney Despite License Suspension

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mishaal Yousafzai’s submission of a power of attorney in the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court regarding the May 9 GHQ attack case has led to legal complications.

During the hearing, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah informed the court that Mishaal Yousafzai had submitted the power of attorney on behalf of PTI’s founding chairman. However, Zaheer Shah objected, stating that Yousafzai’s license had been suspended by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar, and questioned how she could sign the power of attorney under these circumstances.

Zaheer Shah also requested the court to take disciplinary action for what he alleged to be forgery by Mishaal Yousafzai.

The Anti-Terrorism Court issued a show-cause notice to Mishaal Yousafzai for submitting the power of attorney despite her license suspension. The court remarked that she failed to deny the license suspension and that, at first glance, this appeared to be a case of professional misconduct.

The court further directed Mishaal Yousafzai to submit a written response to the show-cause notice at the next hearing, explaining why the Bar Council should not be informed about her license suspension and why criminal action should not be taken against her. The court adjourned the case until January 25.
