Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has expressed concerns over the growing trust deficit between the party leadership and its workers. He emphasized the need for a strategic shift in their protest tactics, suggesting that the party should focus on sit-ins rather than rallies to press for the release of their leader, Imran Khan.
In a recent statement, Marwat asserted that mobilizing two to three hundred thousand supporters at D-Chowk would compel the government to seriously consider demands for Khan’s release. He criticized the lack of effective mobilization and social media motivation for protests, stating that the party currently lacks any contingency plans.
Marwat highlighted the ineffectiveness of previous protests, where they were unable to sustain momentum after facing setbacks. He specifically called out party member Ali Amin Gandapur, questioning the need for his involvement in protests given his role as a provincial chief minister.
Additionally, he criticized Fawad Chaudhry, accusing him of being disconnected from the party’s core values and emphasizing that many party workers would resign if he were brought back into the fold. Marwat dismissed Chaudhry’s recent claims of receiving directives from party leadership, suggesting it was more fantasy than reality.
As the situation unfolds, the PTI’s next steps remain under scrutiny, with leaders like Marwat pushing for a more decisive approach to ensure their demands are heard.
