PTI Considers Major Changes in Core and Political Committees, Including Removal of Controversial Figures

Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reportedly considering significant changes in its core and political committees, with discussions ongoing among senior party leaders to remove controversial figures such as Shahbaz Gill from these bodies.

Internal sources within the party have revealed that any proposed changes will be discussed with PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, who remains incarcerated. His approval is seen as crucial for any major organizational reshuffle.

In a related development, PTI recently dissolved its Foreign Affairs and International Relations Committee, which was initially formed on January 28 of this year. The committee included notable figures such as Zulfi Bukhari, Sajjad Barki, Shahbaz Gill, and Atif Khan. The dissolution was formally announced through a notification issued by Barrister Gohar Khan, who is acting on Imran Khan’s instructions.

Sources suggest that this move came after concerns raised by PTI’s prominent members in the United States, particularly regarding the committee’s direction. It is believed that these members voiced growing dissatisfaction, especially within PTI’s overseas branches, regarding the committee’s stance. PTI’s U.S. branch has been reportedly divided on the party’s approach towards Pakistan’s military establishment. Some members have adopted an aggressive position against the military and its leadership, while others advocate for dialogue and reconciliation.

This internal rift became even more apparent when a group of doctors and businessmen from the U.S. recently visited Islamabad, where they allegedly met with a senior government official and Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. Their efforts, seen as an attempt to mend relations between PTI and the military, were met with criticism from hardliner elements within the party’s diaspora.
