PTI Calls for Core Committee Meeting to Discuss Negotiations with Government

Islamabad:The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called a meeting of its core committee tomorrow to deliberate on the party’s stance regarding negotiations with the government. According to sources, the meeting will focus on the current political situation in the country, the ongoing talks with the government, and strategies for engaging with other opposition parties.

The core committee will also discuss the pressure and threats being faced by PTI’s Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) in Punjab, and the legal proceedings related to the party’s founder, Imran Khan. PTI’s legal team is expected to provide a briefing on Khan’s ongoing cases, and the committee will review the legal actions taken after the events of November 26.

This meeting comes after PTI finally agreed to engage in talks with the government, with Imran Khan forming a committee to facilitate these negotiations.

Meanwhile, the government has welcomed the formation of PTI’s negotiation committee, with officials indicating that they are ready to engage in dialogue. However, they emphasized that no preconditions or demands could be accepted before talks begin.

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, confirmed that an official meeting will take place after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s return from Egypt on Friday. During this meeting, the government will form its own negotiation committee. He clarified that PTI’s deadline of Sunday for approving their demands would not be feasible, and that by then, only the initiation of talks could be expected.

Rana Sanaullah also addressed PTI’s call for a civil disobedience movement, stating that while PTI may pursue this option, it will ultimately fail. “We want the dialogue process to move forward and reach a logical conclusion,” he added, reinforcing the government’s commitment to peaceful negotiations.
