PTI Calls for Article 6 Against Non-Constitutional Actions, Amid Security Threat Allegations
Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has asserted that Article 6 of the Constitution should be invoked against those engaging in non-constitutional activities. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and opposition leader Omar Ayub held a press conference in Islamabad, stating that the press conference imposing restrictions on PTI was aimed at diverting attention from inflation.
They mentioned ongoing attempts to halt their specific seats and hinted at referencing PTI for foreign funding, clarifying that currently, only the Muslim League-N’s foreign funding case is under review by the Election Commission. Barrister Gohar accused the current government of collaborating in stripping PTI of its electoral accolades, likening its statement to contempt of court.
He emphasized the opposition’s intent for transparency from other alliance political parties, including the PPP and PML-N. Ayub commented that Nawaz Sharif’s leadership was mired in controversy, leading to PTI’s penalization. He foresaw an impending economic storm with the US dollar set to reach 350 rupees soon.
Ayub highlighted the exponential increase in electricity rates during PTI’s tenure, soaring from 17 to 85 rupees per unit. He expressed aspirations for constitutional supremacy and justice for all. During the press conference, PTI senior leader Shibli Faraz accused government parties of conspiring through election tribunals and criticized the PML-N for political surrender in their recent press conference.
Faraz reaffirmed PTI’s status as a nationwide political entity and stressed that economic recovery hinges on political stability. He condemned the PML-N for donning the mantle of democracy while maneuvering towards dictatorship, asserting that such a government cannot win public acceptance nor make significant decisions.
