PTI Announces Protests Across Lahore Amid Denial of Permit for Minar-e-Pakistan Rally

Lahore:Following the denial of permission to hold a rally at the Minar-e-Pakistan Ground, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to stage protests across every constituency in Lahore today. PTI leadership has directed all party leaders to conduct peaceful protests in their respective constituencies.

PTI Chief Organizer, Aaliya Hamza Malik, issued instructions to party leaders ahead of possible arrests in seven new cases, urging them to protest against what they term as severe electoral rigging. The directive encourages PTI members and activists to organize peaceful demonstrations in their local areas, with a focus on raising awareness among the public about the alleged election malpractice.

Aaliya Hamza Malik emphasized the need for coordination among PTI members and activists, urging them to select open spaces or main roads for the protests. She also highlighted the importance of running an awareness campaign to educate the public on the issue.

In anticipation of PTI’s planned protests, heavy police contingents have been deployed at various locations across Lahore. Police presence is particularly concentrated around key areas such as Azadi Chowk, Shahdara Chowk, Faisal Chowk, and Zaman Park, with water cannons and prisoner vans stationed at strategic points.

Previously, Section 144 had been enforced in Lahore, imposing a ban on rallies and gatherings in the city. Despite this, PTI is determined to go ahead with their peaceful protests to express their grievances over the alleged electoral irregularities.
