PTI Announces Gradual Civil Disobedience Movement Starting Tomorrow Amid Negotiation Deadlock
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram has stated that the government is not serious about negotiations, and as a result, PTI will launch a phased civil disobedience movement starting tomorrow.
In a conversation with a private TV channel, Sheikh Waqas Akram expressed gratitude towards Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, for his efforts to initiate talks. However, he accused the government of lacking the intention to resolve the matters and bring about any positive change.
He further added that the PTI was not seeking to submit a request to the Speaker of the National Assembly and reiterated that the government’s approach to negotiations had been insincere, leading to the decision to initiate the civil disobedience movement.
This statement from Sheikh Waqas Akram came just before the Prime Minister’s announcement of forming a negotiation committee. PTI leaders had previously issued conflicting statements regarding the deadline for the civil disobedience movement.
On the matter, senior PTI leader Latif Khosa stated yesterday that the deadline set by the party’s founder chairman had expired, and the overseas chapters of the party had been mobilized, particularly for remittance-related actions.
On the other hand, Salman Akram Raja contradicted him, stating that the deadline still had time left. He confidently mentioned that there was still time until Saturday and that the plan of action would be decided after the deadline expires.
