PTI and Jail Sources Respond to Rumors About Imran Khan’s Alleged Transfer from Adiala Jail
Islamabad: Reports regarding the alleged transfer of former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan from Adiala Jail have sparked a debate, with both Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and jail officials issuing statements to clarify the situation.
A meeting of PTI’s political committee discussed the matter, with committee member Sheikh Waqas Akram confirming that the party is concerned about rumors of Imran Khan’s transfer from Adiala Jail. He emphasized that the health and safety of the former Prime Minister are highly sensitive issues, and growing public concern over his well-being is becoming increasingly serious.
The PTI political committee’s statement urged that access to Imran Khan be restored for his family, legal representatives, and senior party officials. It also called for measures to address public apprehensions and advised supporters to rely only on verified information. Additionally, the committee demanded that the authorities ensure foolproof security for Imran Khan in jail, condemning the large number of false cases registered against party workers and citizens.
Meanwhile, sources within Adiala Jail have dismissed the rumors circulating on social media, stating that Imran Khan is still in the jail and in good health. These sources confirmed that the former Prime Minister remains in his cell at Adiala Jail, which is designated as part of the New Town police station’s jurisdiction. His physical custody is under the New Town police until December 2.
According to jail sources, Imran Khan was arrested in connection with a case related to the September 28 protests. The sources also confirmed that daily medical check-ups are being conducted by the jail’s medical team, with regular monitoring of his blood pressure and sugar levels, both of which are reportedly normal.
Imran Khan is said to engage in exercise twice a day, and the jail authorities ensure that he receives adequate food and health care, as well as continuous security personnel to safeguard him at all times.
