Quetta:prominent leaders from various political parties gathered at the Pashtunkhwa provincial secretariat in Quetta to address pressing issues concerning Pakistan’s constitutional rights. Kabir Afghan, Provincial Secretary of the Movement for Preservation of Pakistan’s Constitution, along with Gulam Nabi Marri from the Balochistan National Party’s Central Executive Committee and Allama Maqsood Ali Doomki from the Unity Council of Muslims, spoke fervently during a press conference on July 26, urging democracy-loving, conscientious citizens to participate fully in upcoming protests. They expressed concern and sorrow over the country’s current political and economic crises, attributing them to anti-democratic and anti-people policies. Leaders lamented the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, his spouse Bushra Bibi, and other political activists on unfounded charges, causing unrest among the populace. They labeled the firing incident at the Bannu Peace March as a tragic consequence of powerful forces’ misguided policies and called for a judicial commission to conduct a transparent investigation into the incident. The leaders demanded the immediate resignation of the current non-elected, undemocratic, and unrepresentative governments under Article 47, advocating for fair, transparent elections to establish a genuinely democratic government for the people. They stressed that adhering to the true spirit of the country’s constitution is essential to overcoming the ongoing multifaceted crisis effectively.
