Quetta:Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hamid Khan Duran conducted an unexpected visit to Sandeman High Secondary School in Quetta, engaging directly with students across various classrooms. Accompanied by District Education Officer Dr. Syed Nasir Shah, the minister asked students questions and inquired about their issues.
During her interaction, Minister Duran emphasized that education is the government’s top priority, highlighting the alarming statistic that 2.9 million children are currently out of school due to poverty. She noted the lack of facilities in schools and mentioned that many educational institutions are closed while some teachers in remote areas fail to fulfill their duties.
“The youth want to study abroad but should return to serve their country,” she stated, underscoring the importance of young people as the foundation of the nation. With 64% of the province’s population being youth, she encouraged them to harness their strength for the benefit of the public.
Minister Duran also inspected the Chemistry and Biology labs and assured students that their concerns would be addressed. She expressed confidence in the capabilities of Pakistan’s Army, engineers, and doctors, praising the talent present in every sector.
