Protests Intensify as Family of Diljan Baloch Announces Hunger Strike for His Release
Awaran :The family of Diljan Baloch has been staging a sit-in protest outside the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office in Awaran for the past 12 days, demanding the safe return of their loved one. Recent negotiations with local authorities had led to a brief resolution, with promises that Diljan Baloch would be released within a few days. Following these assurances, the Karachi-Awaran road was reopened for traffic. However, as the agreed-upon deadline has now passed, there has been no sign of Diljan’s release, prompting the protesters to escalate their efforts.
In response to the continued inaction, Diljan Baloch’s family has decided to begin a hunger strike until his safe return. They have vowed that the strike will continue indefinitely until their demands are met. “We will not end this hunger strike until Diljan Baloch is brought back home,” said one of the protest leaders. The protesters have called on the authorities to fulfill their promises and ensure the immediate release of Diljan Baloch.
The Baloch Women’s Forum has been supporting the family’s protest from the beginning and has vowed to continue standing in solidarity with them. The forum has also called on other civil society organizations to join the cause, emphasizing the urgency of securing Diljan Baloch’s release and ensuring justice for his family.
The protest has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the ongoing issue of enforced disappearances in the region and the desperate measures families are resorting to in search of justice and accountability.
