Quetta:In a dramatic turn of events in Zambad district, local authorities and police clashed with protesters from the Zambad Union, accusing them of disrupting peace by forcefully removing oil-laden heavy vehicles from their peaceful protest camp. The union, representing local landowners, vehemently denied obstructing any public or government property, emphasizing their demonstration remained peaceful throughout.
“We condemn the actions of the district administration and Zambad police in strongest terms. Our protest is peaceful,” stated a union spokesperson. “If the presence of heavy oil-laden vehicles inconveniences them for two days, why do they not feel our year-long unemployment pain?”
The Zambad Union urged authorities to address their legitimate demands instead of unnecessarily curtailing their rights. They warned of extending their protest camp indefinitely to towns including Tawan Iriya and Koluwa if further attempts are made to sabotage their peaceful demonstration.
The escalating tensions underscore a broader discontent over economic hardships and a perceived lack of government responsiveness to local concerns.
