Nushki:The Baloch Unity Committee has launched a sit-in protest on the N-40 Quetta-Taftan highway at the Station area in Nushki following a recent shooting incident during a rally. Traffic on the national highway has been disrupted for over 40 hours, halting all movement between Pakistan and Iran. The closure has severed land connections between Nushki, Chagai, Kharan, Dalbandin, Taftan, and the provincial capital, Quetta. Long queues of vehicles have formed, causing significant inconvenience to travelers, particularly women, elderly, and children.
During recent negotiations between the Baloch Unity Committee and district administration, the Baloch Youth Committee (BYC) presented several demands. These include filing an FIR against FC personnel involved in the Nushki incident, immediate release of BYC members detained across the province, cancellation of FIRs against BYC members by Nushki police, and the suspension of the SHO of Nushki.
Deputy Commissioner of Nushki, Amjad Hussain Somro, has requested time to consult higher authorities regarding these demands. MPA Haji Mir Ghulam Dostgir Badini and leaders from various political parties were also present during the negotiations.
