Protests Continue in Khuzdar Over Abduction of 17-Year-Old Girl, Traffic Blocked

Quetta:The protest by the family of 17-year-old Asma Bibi, who was abducted in the Shazad City area of Khuzdar, entered its third day, with relatives blocking the Quetta-Karachi National Highway near Khuzdar. This has led to long traffic jams, affecting the flow of vehicles in the region.
The family members have stated that on the night of February 6, armed men carrying modern weapons attacked their home and abducted their daughter, Asma Bibi, at gunpoint. They also claim that the abduction is linked to a tribal leader, as they had previously refused a marriage proposal from the influential figure, which led to the retaliation in the form of the abduction.
In response, Shahid Rind, the spokesperson for the Balochistan government, confirmed that police and Levies are actively working to recover Asma Bibi. He mentioned that a raid was carried out in the village of Anjera, where one suspect was taken into custody. A case has been registered against the primary accused, Zahoor Ahmed, and his associates under sections 365, 354, and 397 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Rind assured that law enforcement agencies have been directed to arrest the suspects promptly and ensure the safe recovery of the abducted girl. He emphasized that the provincial government is committed to the safety and protection of its citizens and that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Cooperation is being provided to the police and Levies to expedite the arrests and secure the release of Asma Bibi.
