Quetta:The protest for the forced recovery of missing Zahid Baloch from Quetta Saryab continues in Quetta this month. Today, thousands participated in a protest rally and sit-in. Addressing the demonstrators at Hakee Chowk, the head of Baloch Unity Committee, Dr. Mah Rang Baloch, stated that 40 demonstrators have been arrested so far, and Quetta police have adopted a similar approach to Islamabad police. The sit-in will continue until demands are met.
He appealed to the public to remain organized and united, as the government is attempting to shut down mobile networks. He warned that if the government does not become serious, this public flood will forge its own path. “We are peaceful people,” he said. “Our protest is for the recovery of Zahid Baloch, and we will not retreat an inch.”
The rally held yesterday for missing Zahid Ahmed was targeted by police violence at two locations. During this time, nine demonstrators were injured due to firing, with one reported to be in critical condition. Police charged batons and tear gas, injuring several demonstrators, including women and children.
