Protest Against Water and Power Outages Disrupts Traffic in Karachi

Karachi: Residents near Isa Nagri staged a protest on Tuesday evening against the ongoing power and water outages, blocking a major road and causing severe traffic congestion in the area.
The protest, which took place due to prolonged power cuts of over 12 hours and frequent unannounced load-shedding, led to a massive traffic jam. Long queues of vehicles formed, severely disrupting the flow of traffic, including on the Lyari Expressway.
Protesters claimed that the area was facing regular power outages, which were also affecting the water supply. They alleged that despite multiple complaints to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) regarding the issue, no substantial action had been taken to resolve the water shortage.
The demonstrators demanded an immediate end to both scheduled and unscheduled power cuts and the restoration of adequate water supply in their locality. The protest caused immense inconvenience to commuters, especially those heading home after work, as they were stuck in the traffic for extended periods.
After discussions with the police, the protesters dispersed peacefully following assurances from law enforcement. The police then cleared the road, and traffic resumed normal flow, easing the congestion in the area.
