Protest Against Security Forces’ Treatment of Drivers
Dalbandin: Under the auspices of the National Party, a protest was organized in front of the Dalbandin Press Club. Addressing the demonstrators, the district president of the National Party, Mir Atif Baloch, along with district contact secretary Muhammad Baksh, and Tehsil secretary Ghulam Allah Baloch condemned the action of security forces who, the previous day, forcibly made laborers and drivers walk in scorching temperatures exceeding 48 degrees Celsius and across hot deserts.
The National Party expressed deep concern over the security forces’ actions, terming them as highly condemnable. They stated that Chagai District is a border area, and its people coexist with border zones. The repeated human rights violations by security forces are worrisome. They clarified that if the forces had detained these drivers and vehicles, they should have handed them over to the local administration instead of abandoning them to walk in extreme heat in the desert, an act unbearable to humanity.
Furthermore, they highlighted that despite Chagai’s richness in mineral resources, the youth of Chagai are sacrificing their lives for two meals a day, so their children can have food to eat. They pointed out that projects like Rekodik and Saindak provide employment to Chagai’s youth on merit basis, yet today, the residents of Chagai are suffering in the blazing deserts in such a humiliating manner.
The National Party condemned the attitude of security forces towards hardworking laborers and suggested that even enemy forces of the country might not treat them this way. During the protest demonstration, the National Party expressed severe concern over the silence of high-ranking officials of Chagai administration, tribal elders, and respected figures on this crucial issue, emphasizing that everyone should raise their voice on this important matter. They expressed disappointment that no one has yet issued even a condemnation statement.
The National Party assured the oppressed and condemned people of Chagai that they would not leave them alone under any circumstances. They declared their solidarity with them on every platform.
