Gwadar:Under the leadership of Director General Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Haji Syed Mohammad, a session was held regarding the revitalization project for Old Town. This project focuses on approximately 24 kilometers of roads, educational institutions, cemeteries, sports fields, Eidgah, ancient cultural heritage sites, drainage, and sewerage lines across various parts of the city.
According to details shared by Haji Syed Mohammad, the Director General, a comprehensive review of the ongoing developmental works under the Old Town revitalization project was conducted during the session. He emphasized that the project aims to bring visible changes to the city, particularly focusing on education facilities, road expansions, transformation of old sewerage lines for clean water supply to residents, and provision of sports facilities for youth. New developmental schemes have been devised for the rehabilitation of the old population.
Several projects have already commenced, including the completion of development works on various roads such as Demi Zar Road including Link Roads and Stadium Road up to Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Road. Work is soon to commence on routes from B&R Office to Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Road via Airport Road towards Civil Hospital, Shahin Chowk, and B&R Office to RCD Council. Additionally, upcoming phases will include the construction and enhancement of various other roads from Marine Drive to Military Bank, Stadium Road to Shahin Chowk, Shahin Chowk to Mullah Fazal Chowk via Jinnah Bazaar, Jinnah Bazaar to Municipal Office, Municipal Office to Mullah Fazal Chowk, National Hospital to Shahi Bazaar, Gulg to Sorg Dil Grand, and Gulg to Jail House.
The meeting highlighted that major educational institutions such as Government Girls High School, Government Model High School, cemeteries, Sorg Dil Grand, Young Jan Futsal Grand, Eidgah, and preservation projects for ancient cultural heritage, along with sewerage and drainage lines, are included in the ongoing speedy development process. Comprehensive measures are being taken under a strategic action plan to ensure the quality and timely completion of all projects, with special attention to delayed projects.
A formal check and balance system has been established to monitor progress. The session was attended by Project Director Mir Dauda Khan Marri, Superintendent Engineers Roads Nadeer Baloch, Executive Engineer Heritage Kazif Kashif, and other officials.
