Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Announce Electricity Price Reduction Tomorrow

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to announce a reduction in electricity prices tomorrow, with a potential decrease of up to 6 rupees per unit.

According to sources in the Power Division, the reduction in electricity prices comes as a result of the termination and amendments to the agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Sources revealed that negotiations with 29 IPPs have been successfully completed, leading to a projected savings of 2498 billion rupees.

The savings are expected to be spread over the next 3 to 20 years from these power plants, and the government is also considering increasing the electricity subsidy per unit across the country.

In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to address the nation tomorrow, where he is expected to deliver a surprise and announce a significant decision.
