Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has underscored that access to education and healthcare without any hindrance is the right of every impoverished individual. Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Jinnah Medical Complex in Islamabad, he pledged that 100% free medical treatment will be provided to the underprivileged at the Jinnah Hospital. He lamented the financial burden healthcare expenses impose on low-income earners, contrasting it with the elite who can afford the world’s most expensive treatments.
“We have ensured top-notch medical facilities in government hospitals throughout Punjab,” Sharif stated, emphasizing the need for universal access to education and healthcare. He criticized unnamed adversaries for allegedly plotting against the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI), describing it as a regrettable incident in history.
“The previous government destroyed PKLI, despite having highly capable doctors,” Sharif remarked, cautioning against politicizing matters concerning public health and development.
Reflecting on his past endeavors, Sharif recalled promising to end power outages within six months during elections amidst widespread darkness in 2009. “I was ridiculed for making such a bold statement,” he reminisced.
Sharif concluded with a heartfelt plea for continued support and prayers for the completion of the hospital within a year, national peace, and economic stability. “I will strive to achieve these goals,” he affirmed.
