Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced the cancellation of his weekend break, emphasizing the need for concerted effort to drive progress. During his visit to the federal capital’s Technology Park, a flagship project initiated during his previous tenure, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted that Islamabad Technology Park will be Pakistan’s first Category 3 technology park, adhering to international standards.
He underscored the government’s commitment to work around the clock on developmental projects, citing the successful implementation of a 24/7 construction system for major projects in Punjab. “To lead Pakistan to new heights of development, we must work tirelessly day and night,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the swift completion of the project, urging the project team and the Ministry of IT to expedite efforts. He anticipated enhanced collaboration between academia, researchers, industries, and project developers through Islamabad Technology Park, projecting an annual increase of $70 million in Pakistan’s IT exports.
Sharif projected the creation of 10,000 new job opportunities through the construction of Technology Park, thanking the government of South Korea for their cooperation. During the briefing on the progress of the project, it was revealed that the Park, sprawled over 14.9 acres, will house an international standard data center.
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Minister of State for IT Shazia Fatima Khawaja accompanied the Prime Minister during his tour.
