Prime Minister Addresses Human Trafficking Prevention, Calls for Immediate Action
In a recent meeting focused on combating human trafficking, Prime Minister of Pakistan emphasized the detrimental impact this issue has on the country’s global reputation. He expressed deep concerns over the rising cases of human trafficking, particularly in the wake of the 2023 Greece boat tragedy, which was linked to illegal human smuggling operations.
During the session, the Prime Minister was briefed on measures to curb human trafficking and prevent further tragedies. He directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to identify and take action against the facilitators of human traffickers, particularly those within government agencies who may be aiding the illegal trade.
The Prime Minister pointed out that there had been delays in holding those responsible for the 2023 boat disaster accountable, stressing that the response to the tragedy had been too slow. He called for the swift completion of ongoing investigations and urged authorities to present concrete recommendations to tackle human trafficking effectively.
The Prime Minister’s remarks underline Pakistan’s commitment to addressing the growing threat of human trafficking, with an emphasis on stronger law enforcement and international cooperation to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
