Price of Live Broiler Chicken and Meat Soars in Rawalpindi
Islamabad:Over the past two weeks, a significant increase has been observed in the price of live broiler chickens and broiler chicken meat across the country, particularly in Rawalpindi.
According to market sources, the price of live broiler chicken in Rawalpindi has surged from Rs. 285 per kilogram to Rs. 530 per kilogram, while the price of broiler chicken meat has crossed Rs. 900 per kilogram. This marks an increase of Rs. 450 per kilogram in the cost of chicken meat.
Sources further revealed that the price of live broiler chicken at the Rawalpindi poultry market has exceeded Rs. 19,200 per “man” (a traditional unit of weight). Due to the lack of local farming, chicken needs to be brought in from other districts, contributing to the price hike.
The sources added that the prices of chicken are primarily driven by supply and demand dynamics. Additionally, the increasing costs of poultry feed, transportation, and other related expenses have further contributed to the price rise.
