Quetta: Syed Khurshid Shah, central leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and member of the National Assembly, has stated that if PTI’s founder Imran Khan is willing to engage in dialogue, it is a positive development. According to him, issues are resolved through dialogue rather than confrontation.
Speaking to the media, Khurshid Shah remarked that Mahmood Khan Achakzai may have forgotten Zia-ul-Haq’s 90-day rule, but there will not be a three-month national government again; it will only be a national government. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that assemblies function and complete their terms.
The PPP leader stated that there are reports that Imran Khan is ready for dialogue, which is a positive step if he feels that politicians need to sit together in one place and acknowledges this fact.
He added that those involved in the events of May 9 should seek forgiveness. If Imran Khan claims he was not involved in the May 9 incidents, he should condemn those events. He stressed the need to sit together to find solutions to issues.
Khurshid Shah mentioned that President Asif Ali Zardari has always endeavored to resolve issues through negotiations and dialogue. He assured that if necessary, PPP will play its full role.
Regarding the economic situation, he expressed concern, stating that measures are needed to rectify the economy. He emphasized that the government should reconsider the taxes imposed on electricity and agriculture.
Regarding the formation of the government in Balochistan, he stated that he is not aware of any agreements between PPP and PML-N regarding government formation.
