PPP Leader Sadiq Umrani Rejects Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman’s Allegations Against IG FC, Accuses Opposition of Inciting Terrorism
Quetta:A heated exchange took place in the Balochistan Assembly on the floor of the House when Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Parliamentary Leader and Provincial Minister, Sadiq Umrani, strongly rejected allegations made by Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), against the Inspector General (IG) of the Frontier Corps (FC).
During the assembly session, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman had criticized the IG FC, accusing the security forces of overstepping their boundaries. In response, Sadiq Umrani dismissed the allegations, stating, “Maulana, this is not the Gwadar rally where you can throw baseless accusations. The security forces are sacrificing their lives day and night to eliminate terrorism and ensure peace in the region.” He went on to assert that Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman’s party, which he claimed had been involved in promoting terrorism in both Bangladesh and Karachi, was now attempting to spread unrest in Balochistan. “We will not allow your efforts to succeed in Balochistan,” he added firmly.
The altercation escalated as both leaders exchanged sharp words, with Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman and Sadiq Umrani accusing each other of fueling tensions. At one point, Sadiq Umrani addressed the Speaker of the House, urging him to control Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, saying, “When he was speaking, we listened in silence. Now, he should also remain silent and hear the response.”
The tense exchange reflects the growing political divisions in Balochistan, as both sides continue to argue over the role of security forces and the political direction of the province.
