Possible Reduction in Electricity Prices: NEPRA to Hear CPPAG’s Petition on December 31

Islamabad: The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPAG) has submitted a petition to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) requesting a reduction of 63 paisas per unit in electricity prices. NEPRA is scheduled to hold a hearing on the matter on December 31.
According to the CPPAG’s petition, a total of 7.71 billion units of electricity were produced last month at a production cost of Rs 55.76 billion. The cost of generating electricity using LNG was Rs 23.20 per unit, while electricity imported from Iran was priced at Rs 27.15 per unit. Coal-fired generation cost Rs 14.92 per unit, and nuclear power generation cost Rs 1.73 per unit.
The average cost of electricity generation last month stood at Rs 7.28 per unit.
