Poor Investigation in Murder Case Leads to Acquittal, Draws Ire of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani

Islamabad: During the hearing of an acquittal plea in a murder case, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court strongly criticized the investigating officer for conducting a flawed investigation.
Expressing his displeasure, Justice Kayani remarked, “It is because of people like you that accused individuals walk free. When they are acquitted, the public curses the courts and the country.”
The petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that the item that was supposed to be recovered from the accused was instead recovered from the victim’s father, which benefitted the accused in the case. The judge pointed out that such negligence in investigation compromises justice and erodes public trust in the legal system.
