Islamabad:Senior journalists suggest that in the current political scenario, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will not align with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) under any circumstances to overthrow the government.
Journalist and analyst Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami stated that he does not believe PPP would support PTI in destabilizing the current government while remaining vigilant. Shami further commented that PTI’s current stance does not indicate PPP’s willingness to cooperate.
When asked by senior journalist and analyst Sahil Warraich whether PPP would aid in toppling the government through a vote of no-confidence against PTI, he mentioned that despite differences with the federal and Punjab governments, PPP does not wish to confront the establishment.
Warraich noted PPP’s past experiences, where their two prime ministers were ousted and their leaders and workers endured imprisonment and hardships, influencing their decision not to engage in a confrontation with the establishment.
Senior journalist and analyst Asma Shirazi remarked that she finds it unlikely for PPP to reconcile with PTI to bring down the current government. She added that Imran Khan does not seem inclined towards alliances and prefers to hold complete authority.
Shirazi elaborated that if Imran Khan engages with the establishment, he would likely impose conditions akin to “minus army chief,” whereas negotiations with political parties would involve conditions like “minus Nawaz and Zardari,” indicating a deadlock in forming a coalition.
She further emphasized that Imran Khan understands the judiciary supports him, hence he is not inclined towards negotiations or compromise with political parties and continues to favor a parallel system of governance.
In response to anchor Shahzeb Khanzada’s query during the program regarding speculation that PTI might seek PPP’s support to topple the government, journalist Maneeb Farooq commented that this government is rooted in military backing and restrictions. He clarified that neither President Asif Zardari, nor Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, nor MQM has stated that political parties should not be restricted.
Farooq continued, stating that in 2018, Imran Khan’s government was hybrid, then came hybrid 2, and now this current government is hybrid pro-roshan. Therefore, those working under this salary will continue to do so. However, if the bosses want it to be, then a lot will change, as it has been changing.
