Polio Eradication Campaign Launched in Gwadar under NID December

Gwadar:The polio eradication campaign under the National Immunization Days (NID) December initiative was officially launched by Member of Provincial Assembly, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, and Deputy Commissioner Hamood-ur-Rehman. The inauguration ceremony took place at the District Headquarter Civil Hospital Gwadar, where the distinguished guests administered polio vaccination drops to children to kick-start the campaign.

In his address at the ceremony, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch emphasized that polio is a dangerous virus that can cause lifelong disability in children. He called on parents, civil society, and all responsible members of the community to fully support the polio eradication campaign and ensure that all children under the age of five receive the polio vaccination.

He further stressed that collective efforts are essential to protect the future of the nation from the disability caused by polio.

**Deputy Commissioner’s Remarks**

Deputy Commissioner Hamood-ur-Rehman, while speaking at the event, directed the officers supervising the campaign to ensure that no child is left without receiving the protective polio drops during the campaign. He stated, “It is our national duty to rid our country of the crippling polio virus.” He also urged all teams involved in the campaign to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

He appealed to the public to actively participate in this national initiative, highlighting the importance of community involvement in making the campaign successful.

**Key Officials Attend the Ceremony**

The inauguration ceremony was attended by various key figures, including Chairman of the Gwadar Municipal Committee, Sharif Mian Dad, District Health Officer Dr. Abdul Latif Dashti, MS Civil Hospital Dr. Hafeez Baloch, Deputy DHO Dr. Shah Nawaz Baloch, WHO’s District Surveillance Officer Dr. Zafar Iqbal, and other prominent personalities from the District Health Department.

**Campaign Goals and Implementation**

The objective of the campaign is to vaccinate all children under five years of age across Gwadar district. Teams have been mobilized in all towns and will be supervised by relevant officers to ensure the successful achievement of the campaign’s goals.

The local population has praised the district administration’s initiative and expressed hope that their full support will contribute to the national effort to make Pakistan polio-free.

With concerted efforts from local authorities and the community, the goal is to safeguard children from the debilitating effects of polio and move closer to a polio-free future for the country.
