Polio Cases in Pakistan Rise to 52 with Two New Confirmed Cases
Dera Ismail Khan: Two more children in Pakistan have been confirmed to have contracted polio, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 52 this year. The new cases were reported from Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
In the Drazinda Tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan, a 3-year-old girl and an 18-month-old boy were found to be paralyzed due to the polio virus.
The polio cases in Pakistan are distributed as follows: 13 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24 in Balochistan, 13 in Sindh, and one each in Punjab and Islamabad.
The continuing rise in polio cases highlights the challenges faced in the ongoing battle to eradicate the virus from Pakistan.
