Police Action Condemned as Baloch Unity Committee Holds Rally for Missing Persons in Quetta

Quetta:In a protest rally organized by the Baloch Unity Committee in Quetta, Gwadar-based “Qudrat” newspaper reported incidents of police aggression, shelling, and firing against demonstrators. The rally, attended by a significant number of men and women, commenced from Javid Complex and concluded at Shaheed-e-Jauini Chowk, affiliated with the Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Avenue.

Addressing the rally, Hussain Wadela, central chairman of the Baloch Voice for Justice Forum, and central general secretary Hafeez Khiazi vehemently condemned the state’s assault on peaceful protest, including the shelling and baton charges against women. They expressed outrage in strong terms, stating, “The state did not challenge the state rate, but the state institutions themselves.”

“The Balochs whom the state has abducted are all innocent,” they added. “If they were not innocent, they would have been presented in court. But the state’s eyes are on Baloch’s seas, lands, and assets.”

They further commented on the recent filing of an FIR against Dr. Mehreng Baloch, saying, “If the state agencies break the country’s law, they should be FIR-ed.”

Wadela, who defined Gwadar as “Mehreng, Sami, and Bebo,” proud of Balochistan, said the state was creating a hostility that could never be good. “Baloch is fighting for his rights and his authority, and we must struggle for a democratic and peaceful defense.”

“For 70 years, the Baloch have resisted their honor, their land, and their rights,” he added. “Whenever there is injustice against the Baloch, the movement of the Baloch will undoubtedly protest.”
