PM’s Political Affairs Adviser Rana Sanaullah Says Pressure Behind PM’s Resignation Talk on Tax Matter
Islamabad:Rana Tanveer, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, has stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan mentioned resignation over tax issues due to pressure from certain quarters.
In an interview, Rana Tanveer remarked that when they were being sent to jail and faced accusations, they were prepared to sit through it, and today they are still prepared, but those from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are not. He emphasized that when there is a clash of paths, everything becomes meaningless, and in such a scenario, both sides will exert their full force, with PTI pushing to justify their stance and prosecution pushing to prove their cases right.
Rana Tanveer pointed out that the decision on specific seats has further increased confusion, as there was already a method in place in the constitution. Independent members had given oaths to the Sunni Ittehad Council, and while PTI did not go to the Supreme Court, seats were allocated to PTI. The next 29 days will now see a series of trading accusations.
He further stated that the Prime Minister, Election Commission, and judges, among others, have all taken oaths to protect the constitution. A decision must be made whether to follow the constitution or violate their oaths, as both cannot go hand in hand.
Regarding the issue of the Prime Minister’s statement on resignation, Rana Tanveer clarified that the Prime Minister mentioned resignation in relation to tax matters due to pressure from certain quarters. Prior to this conversation, Rana Tanveer had said that wherever Imran Khan is, it is appropriate to keep him there. No one stopped him from going to court. Imran Khan has the right to his defense, but prosecution also has the right to fight their case.
