PM’s Political Advisor Rana Sanaullah Says PTI’s Protest Will Fail
Islamabad:Prime Minister’s political advisor, Rana Sanaullah, has stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest called for November 24 will not succeed, as the party will fail to mobilize a large number of people to Islamabad.
Speaking in an interview with a private TV channel, Rana Sanaullah emphasized that the protest would not achieve its goals due to insufficient participation. He also remarked that the longer the delay in Imran Khan’s release, the better it would be for the country, as the former prime minister, even from prison, is working on protest strategies that he would implement once released. He added that Khan could potentially face a conviction in a 190 million-pound case.
Rana Sanaullah further commented on PTI’s prior actions, noting that there was likely some level of communication between PTI and the establishment at a lower level. He recalled that during PTI’s planned visit to Islamabad on October 4, the party had followed a pre-determined schedule.
He also referenced an earlier instance involving PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur, who had assured that no sit-in would be staged upon reaching Islamabad. Despite this assurance, Gandapur later left the capital according to the same pre-arranged plan.
Regarding PTI’s future actions, Rana Sanaullah asserted that the government’s position remains clear: political dialogue is the best way to resolve issues. However, he pointed out that Imran Khan only seems interested in negotiating with the establishment, not the government.
He further stated that PTI lacks the strength to sustain a protest, and even if they do manage to reach Islamabad, it will likely be part of a pre-planned strategy, similar to their earlier actions.
Meanwhile, preparations for PTI’s November 24 protest are underway, with party leaders continuing to rally support. However, the government has warned PTI that Section 144 has been imposed in Islamabad, prohibiting all kinds of public gatherings, including rallies and sit-ins. The federal government has also made it clear that if any loss of life occurs during the protest, PTI will be held responsible for the consequences.
