PM Shehbaz Sharif Forms Committee to Prevent Terrorism and Crimes via Motorways and Railways
Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee aimed at preventing terrorism and crimes through Pakistan’s motorways and railways. The committee will be led by **Defence Minister Khawaja Asif**.
According to sources, the committee will review the capabilities of the motorway and railway police, evaluating their effectiveness in preventing terrorism and criminal activities. The committee’s focus will be on enhancing the operational capacities of these institutions, as well as developing recommendations to improve their effectiveness.
The committee is expected to present its recommendations to the Prime Minister within two weeks. The establishment of this committee comes as part of the government’s broader efforts to combat rising security concerns in the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing a Maritime Security workshop in Lahore, reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to eradicating terrorism. He stated, “Our resolve to eliminate the scourge of terrorism is unwavering. We will not rest until terrorism is eradicated from Pakistan.”
He emphasized that the commitment to removing terrorism from Pakistan’s soil remains steadfast, noting that security forces have been making daily sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. “In the war against terrorism, we lost 80,000 lives and our economy suffered a loss of 3 billion dollars,” he added.
The Prime Minister also recalled that in 2018, Pakistan had succeeded in largely eradicating terrorism, but unfortunately, the menace has resurfaced in recent times. He reiterated the government’s and Pakistan’s armed forces’ determination to rid the country of terrorism once and for all.
