PM Shahbaz Sharif Demands Details of Public Awareness Campaign on Human Trafficking

Islamabad: Prime Minister **Shahbaz Sharif** has expressed concerns over the delayed actions taken to curb human trafficking and has requested detailed reports regarding the public awareness campaign on the issue. The Prime Minister highlighted that the recurrence of such incidents is alarming, especially when progress in combating human trafficking has been slow.

In his statement, PM **Shahbaz Sharif** emphasized the urgent need to implement the **IBMIS (Integrated Border Management Information System)** system immediately. He referred to a tragic incident in **Greece** earlier in 2023, where **262 Pakistani nationals** lost their lives in the same region, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

The Prime Minister further instructed that international collaboration with agencies and organizations should be strengthened to prevent such incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, following the recent **Greece boat tragedy**, the **FIA (Federal Investigation Agency)** has launched an operation and arrested a suspected human trafficker from **Gujrat**. Sources revealed that the accused had taken **25 lakh rupees** from **Haji Ahmed**, who perished in the boat incident in Greece.

The tragic incident occurred three days ago off the coast of **Crete Island** in **southern Greece**, where at least **five people** were confirmed dead, including one Pakistani national. Yesterday, the death toll rose as **four more Pakistanis** were confirmed dead, while dozens remain missing. Among the survivors, **47 Pakistanis** were rescued from the sunken vessels.
